What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard, initiated by Anthropic (the company behind Claude), that lets an AI connect to external data sources securely and in a structured way.

In practice: your AI no longer works only with what you type on the keyboard. It can navigate your folders, find a document, read it and answer your questions, all without leaving the interface you work in.

What the NetExplorer connector brings in practice

Intelligent search across your files

You ask your AI a question in plain language: "Which documents mention our service level commitments?" or "Find me the contracts that expire before the end of the year."

The connector runs that search directly in NetExplorer, by file name, by content (full text) or even by meaning (semantic search). Your AI receives the most relevant results together with excerpts from the passage it found, and can answer you straight away.

No need to remember where you filed the document. No need to open NetExplorer in another tab.

Reading indexed files: fast, with no download

This is where NetExplorer makes the difference.

Most solutions force the AI to download the whole file before it can read it, which is slow, costly in tokens, and raises questions about data sovereignty. NetExplorer indexes the text content of your documents as they are uploaded. When the AI asks to read a file, it receives the indexed text directly, without downloading the binary. The result:

• Near-instant access to the content, even for large files
• Lower consumption of AI capacity (fewer tokens)
• Your data stays in NetExplorer: only the text actually needed is transmitted

For files that do not lend themselves to this optimisation (images, complex spreadsheets), full access remains available on request.

Navigating your folder tree

The AI can explore how your files are organised, list folders, identify spaces (private, company, shares) and target its search where it makes sense. It does not search blindly across the whole platform if you tell it where to look.

Getting a download link

Need to share a file the AI has found? It can generate a single-use NetExplorer download link, ready to send by email or paste into a message.

NetExplorer being a sovereign French solution, hosted in France, the connector follows the same logic: your documents do not leave your secure environment. Only the text excerpts needed for the AI's answer are transmitted, on request, and nothing is stored elsewhere.
